Season’s Greetings All;

I think I’ve mentioned before that the Gr’baby & I share a love of old cartoons. We’ve spent many a happy afternoon cuddled up on the couch watching Merry Melodies/Looney Tunes. I have 7 box-sets of them so it’s pretty much endless. I discovered last week that we also both love How the Grinch Stole Christmas (the original with Boris Karloff). You’ve never really watched the Grinch until you watch it narrated and sung to by a 3yr old. I want to bottle that 30 minutes and keep it forever!

Speaking of bottles and all things grinchy, my step-son & daughter-in-law gave me a Craft Beer Advent Calendar (best Christmas present ever!) and one of the beers I got last week was a 39 & a Half Foot Pole Ale from the Yukon Brewing Co.

This past week was chocked full of pleasant surprises; a cousin who I hadn’t been in contact with for decades sent me a big bag of Nuts’n’Bolts that she makes using our granny’s original recipe. How cool is that? We had a bowl with yesterdays Advent Calendar Craft Beer (a farmhouse ale from Brooklyn NY) & it just tasted like Christmas.

And speaking of decades (we’re into our 5th) and original recipes and tasting like Christmas, Hillcrest Bakery & Deli is the place to be for all that. Butter in the shortbread, made from scratch almond paste in the stollen, mincemeat tarts (my personal weakness), Christmas puddings, Christmas cakes, rum balls, party platters….the list of yummy goodness is kind of like my Looney tunes collection…extensive.

We’ll also be doing individual take-out Turkey Dinners again this year. They’ll be available Dec 23 & 24 and we really do encourage you to pre-order. This has become a seasonal favourite and with good reason. You get a generous serving of turkey with mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, veggies, cranberry sauce and a slice of pie. ALL made in-house and all for $13.95 + tax. Pre-order by Dec 14 and save 10%.

We’re looking forward to seeing you soon!

Cheers,

David & Sheana
