“Hillcrest Bakery is by far my favourite bakery in White Rock/South Surrey. It reminds me of the era of great bakeries from my childhood when we visited Vancouver. It has many of the favourites that you rarely see at bakeries these days such as Vanilla Squares (with oodles of cream and a so sweet icing); or the “real” Nanaimo Bars (not the Costco kind- which are good – but these are exceptional) or my favourite is the date turnover in an oatmeal cookie. But best best best of all is the macaroon chocolate mound! It is super fresh coconut mounds dipped in chocolate – they make it better than any place I recall and I must ration myself. When I found this bakery (long ago), it re-booted a little piece of my memory of what bakeries used to be like and why I love them so! There is nothing better than a good old, fashioned bakery.”
